Let’s discover:Constanta :)

When you say Constanta, you say the Black Sea. Constanta is one of the largest port in Europe, being situated on the western coast of the Black Sea. Being one of the biggest cities in Romania (the third), Constanta has everything for everyone: tradition, tourist attractions, places to eat and nightlife. From history to the modern era, even the most exigent taste is satisfied.

Compared to its near tourist resorts (more about them in the next post), Constanta can be visited throughout the year. If you want an unforgettable experience, visit the city on the 15th of August when it’s celebrated Romanian Navy Day. It is a unique experience for everyone, especially if you are from abroad. Also, if you like are passionate about the navy, and history, you can also visit the Romanian Navy Museum and the Museum of National History and Archeology.

If you are traveling with your children, there are plenty of things to do for families. From walkings on the beach, places for kids to play, up to educational attractions, there is always something to do. Let them discover the folk art in the Folk Art Museum or the Natural Science Museum. This is totally a must see.  You can choose from the Dolphinarium and Planetarium, the Aquarium, the Astronomical Observatory, and the Micro Reservation. If you are visiting the city when the season ends( usually mid of September ) you can pay one ticket and gain entry to the Dolphinarium, the Exotic Birds and the Micro Reservation for a really cheap price.

In terms of food, Constanta is a piece of heaven . Plenty of choices, different cuisines, from street food to high-style restaurants. depending on everyone’s budget. Near Ovidiu Square (another tourist attraction), you will find some of the best places to eat. In terms of nightlife, Constanta has a large variety of clubs and bars, but if you are going to the Black Sea in the summer, I personally recommend you to check the other resorts as there more diversified places to have fun.

If you want to relax , then come and sunbath on the Modern beach (really nice beach ) or take a walk by the Casino. Admire the sea or why not, swim in the Black Sea. But pay attention, because it’s not always nice and warm. The legend says that when the sea is agitated , it becomes black and requests its “tribute”. Therefore, after a life is taken, the sea it immediately becomes calm and back to its normal color.

To summarise , Constanta has its positive and negative things:

Positive:

  • Plenty of places to do and see
  • Nightlife, good food and affordable prices
  • Its proximity to other tourist resorts
  • Accommodation

Negative:

  • Overcrowded in the summertime (and during the season, the traffic is a nightmare.)
  • When the season ends, some of the restaurants and businesses (those on the beach) are closed.

Constanta is definitely a must see when coming to the Black Sea. A place which gives you an entire package of feelings and experiences. And why not…maybe a summer love 🙂

Next post will be about what you can see and do near Constanta and the most visited and important tourist resorts. In the meantime, you can check my Instagram (yannysjourney) and please let me know if you have any suggestions or questions.
